My name is Nicola Smith (was Reilly), I am a Personal Trainer, Nutrition and Lifestyle coach. I have been involved in the wellness industry now since 2002. I studied at the University of Otago, where I gained my Bachelor of Physical education, majoring in Sports Science and Exercise Prescription. Throughout my studies I worked one on one personal training out of Les Mills with clients while I continued to learn. After finishing my degree I discovered I needed to know more, so I continued to train clients while taking my study further. I went on to be certified through the Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology (C.H.E.K) Institute as a Holistic Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach level 2 and then went on to gain more qualifications with the C.H.E.K Institute in relation to program design, scientific core and back training. I am now also a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner which has helped take my knowledge to a new level.

My passion for dressage is what lead me to create dressage rider training and apply what I know about human health and wellbeing to the dressage athlete. There is something so powerful about training a horse and when riders treat their own health and wellbeing along side their horses they are truly able to shine as a powerful combination.

I remember someone saying to me once that training a dressage horse is like training a gymnast without being able to talk to them. It takes great skill, patience and the right training and mindset. They are incredibly powerful and willing animals that its incredible what we are able to achieve when the training is right and we build a solid foundation to do so and we simply can’t do this without having a healthy body and mind to do it from.

When I am not riding, I am a personal trainer, nutrition and lifestyle coach. I specialize in core training and workouts that busy people can do at home without a flash gym membership. This is why I created my online gym and foreverfit.tv.

Along with this I wanted to combine my passion for dressage, with my online gym and my skills in scientific core training. So this is why I created dressage rider training a program that specializes in core and strength training for dressage riders. Dressage has been a passion of mine since I can remember and after taking some time out to get my education and life experience I am now back into it, enjoying every minute and doing everything I can to ensure I can ride until a very ripe old age.

I actually can’t believe I lasted so long without it, but it is just like riding a bike. However this time my bike is a little different. You can’t quite compare what I applied to my 14.2 pony to 17h warmblood mare. My Lucy is the mare I am riding, she is by Ramazotti out of a gisbourne mare. We are just getting out exploring the world at the moment and doing some competing when I get the chance. I have never trained a young horse and I have had her since she was 3 1/2, we a have a long way to go and I am enjoying every minute of it.

One of the main reason I have created dressage rider training is because I have learnt so much with Lucy already. She is so sensitive and such a big girl, that every little movement of my body effects her. So I have been working on ways to improve my riding on the ground to make it a more beautiful picture on the horse and for us to work as a team. I have learnt so much and have been combining my skills as a personal trainer and with core conditioning to create the dressage athlete in my myself and my horse and I wanted to share with you what I know has been working.
I have been extremely lucky to work with some amazing people and learn from them also. My passion is to help people achieve optimal health and well being. I am not your typical personal trainer though, I look at my clients holistically. Creating health from the food that they eat, to the movement they create over to the lifestyle they lead. Without looking at the complete package optimal health cannot be created. Foreverfit.tv and dressageridertraining.com is my way of sharing what I can with you and putting together my two big passions. I want you to achieve optimal health and wellbeing and thrive as a dressage athlete.

There is so much information out there that is wrong. Conventional Nutrition and the food pyramid have lead us down a path of obesity and disease. Our desk jobs are making us sicker and sicker and our modern lives are affecting how will approach every aspect of our day to day life and affected how we sit in that saddle each and every day.

I want to bring clarity and help make it easy for you to understand what you need to do to achieve health and well being. Use this site to help you thrive as a dressage athlete and start to take care of your own health and well being along side your horses. You are after all a team effort!
